July-02-2007 With the close of the banquet the Winter 2007 season is officially ended and we're all set to startup the Summer 2007 season! First off, thanks to everyone who attended the end-of-season banquet. Several people have mentioned that they really enjoyed the banquet and I hope it holds true for most, if not all, who attended. Thanks again to Roger C., Heather and Bill for all the great food and thanks to the Poet & Patriot and their staff for accommodating us in such a helpful fashion. I also cannot forget to thank everyone else on the Board who helped keep the banquet running throughout the day (and night). As we noticed at the banquet there were several complete teams missing from the banquet this season. This is particularly frustrating to me because I really want everyone who participated in the season to participate in the celebration and get the most out of their dart season. I realize that I made the mistake of not putting the time of the banquet here on the web and I sincerely hope that this was not a big factor in the missing people. I did try to get information concerning the date and location of the banquet on the web early as well as making sure flyers were posted in at least the most popular sponsor locatinos to give everyone the best chance possible of knowing when and where the banquet was to be held. The only other way I can think of to get the word out is to use an e-mail list to send out reminders. For this to be effective it is very important that you provide an e-mail adderss if you can. We'll work to make this happen for next season. Due to missing teams I now have quite a few trophies in the back of my truck waiting for someone to claim them. If you think you got a trophy and did not attend the banquet please contact me (commissoner@santacruzdarts.org) as soon as possible. The results of the blind-draw doubles tournament are as follows: 1) Fred Murphy/Keith Albertson 2) Anthony Poletti/Neil Lyttle 3) Carmine Dunn/Julie Miller In addition there were several elected positions and ballots that were voted upon. I've updated the original ballot page to indicate in red the results. You can click here to see the results. Finally, I've changed the look of the main page a bit to make it more consistent. I've also changed the banner to give it, what I think, is a slicker look. Hope you enjoy it. I will try and get the new Board member information posted soon as well as the new season stuff. After that most of this will be turned over to Rick. Be gentle with him... Later, - Cliff |

June-04-2007 Hey, the Winter 2007 season is now in the books, the President's cup is this week and we are already two weeks into 3-man (or as someone suggested, 3-player) league. I hope everyone has enjoyed the past season and is looking forward to the banquet (June 30th, Poet and Patriot). Bill is in the process of getting the trophies ready and getting the information to the trophy people. I realized that, while I entered the All-Star invitee lists into the news are for later reference, I never did so for the winners. So here are those lists: A League All-Star Winners 1st - Frank Bauerle 2nd - Carmine Dunn 3rd - Cliff Cormier B League All-Star Winners 1st - Neil Lyttle 2nd - Jeff Radach 3rd - Matt Roberts Take care for now... |

March-28-2007 Well, B League All-Stars had an even better turnout than the A League. There were some very tight matches throughout the tournament and it seemed like almost everyone stayed to the end. The final match had plenty of applause and cheering for both players. Congratulations and thanks to everyone. Besides the three winners I'd like to also congratulate Johnny Warren of O'Doyle for hitting a 7T4 along the way. Keep up the good work Johnny! - Cliff |

March-22-2007 There was a very impressive turnout for the A League All-Star Tournament. Out of 16 spots only 2 invitees did not make it. All of the play was competitive and there were a lot of players who looked like they could at least place. I'm very impressed with the quality of players this season! I've made some changes to the welcome page in the attempt to make the changing information more accessible and also allow you to get the more important information at a glance rather than having to navigate into the site. I hope to have the home page updated automatically in the future as changes are made but, for right now, you will have to be a bit patient and wait for me to update it by hand. |

March - 18 - 2007 For the A League players I would like to welcome you to the middle of the season! The All-Star invitees are posted on the welcome page and the certificates and pins will be waiting at the tournament venue (which will be at the 1007 by the way). B League players have one more week to go. |

Jan-29-2007 Whew! We've made it through the first week of the season and, as far as I can tell, it went pretty smoothly. Welcome to the SCCDA Winter 2007 league. If you haven't noticed the B League schedule extends further out than the A League schedule. This means that A League-ers will have a couple of extra weeks of time on their hands. Any ideas for how to occupy the extra time? I thought of a mini-playoff for A League, but am not sure if anyone would be up for it. Email me your ideas and thoughts. Later, |

Jan-23-2007 Rosters are now up on the website. I had thought I did this several days ago, but I guess I overlooked actually uploading them to the site...oops! Packets have been delivered to the bars where each team will be playing their first match. Each packet should contain the following:
Let me once again emphasize that to play a player they must be paid for prior to start of play!! You can do this by either paying a nearby Board member (let them know what the money is for) or by giving the money to the opposing captain prior to the start of the match. The opposing captain should then deliver it to a Board member as soon as they can. Contact any Board member if you have any questions or problems. LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!! |

Jan-21-07 Okay, the schedules for the new season are now posted. Please keep in mind that there may still be some changes. At the very least we still need to fill in the locations for the various tournaments. This may happen in time to have the locations in the schedules provided for your welcome packets. There is an issue to discuss concerning the B League that could affect the number of teams and, of course, the related schedule. I will do everything possible to have any updates posted by Tuesday morning if necessary. It's late. I'll post more info tomorrow... |

Jan-12-2007 First off, I would like to send best wishes to Anthony Poletti. He has been in the hospital several weeks and has actually had to undergo surgery in an attempt to remedy his condition. I won't go into details, but he will have to spend some recovery time so wish him well. I have updated the web site so that the Summer 2006 season is a thing of the past and the various pages are just waiting for some information concerning the Winter 2007 season. Included in the update is a change to the signup forms to reflect the correct season, dates and fees. Sorry for the delay. I'm getting close to adding an editorial area to the website. If you are interested in making a statement about darts then let me know. All I ask is that it not be chock full o' swearing and not be overly abusive to anyone. I also got some feedback indicating that SCCDA would benefit by entering MySpace.com so I'm contemplating going ahead with that. Let me know your thoughts. Later, - Cliff |

Jan-3-2007 Happy New Year! I'm in the process of updating all of the old website pages to reflect the new season it should be up in a day or two. In addition new flyers and signup sheets should be available in the sponsor locations in the next few days. I will let you know hear when they are out. If, after I post them, you can't find them in the bars, you can let me know, but make sure and complain to the sponsors that posted flyers are being removed. I cannot be responsible for the flyers once they are posted. It is up to the sponsor locations to keep the flyers up. I will be adding a section to this website that will list both teams that want new members as well as players that want to be on a team. There have been several potential players that have talked to me about getting on a team so I think it is time we try and hook people up. Let me know if you're interested. Gotta Go, - Cliff Cormier (Commissioner) |

Dec-12-2006 Thanks everyone for making the banquet a huge success! Extra thanks goes to Roger Champieux for getting the raffle prizes together and Bill Grandy for handling the ordering of the trophies. There was a ballot initiative that was put to a league vote requiring valid phone numbers or e-mail addresses from all league captains. I am glad to say that it was passed and will be incorporated into the Winter 2007 Rules. |

Dec-12-2006 Whew! It's been a while since this area has been updated. The plans are to use wither this area or a new one for most of the ongoing information that occurs during and around a season. Only the high points and dates to remember will be shown on the welcome page. (At least that's the plan!) I also hope to open and "Editorial/Comments" page in the near future that would give both the Board members and league members a chance to make their opinions known (in a respectable fashion of course). Let me know if you're interested. Thanks, Cliff Cormier (S.C.C.D.A. Commissioner) |

The Summer 2006 Season schedules are up and there are some new names on old faces. The "B" League has some new teams coming from that old 'splitting atom' theory and the 1007 Pub has inherited half of them. All of the teams look to be pretty strong and this could be a dogfight until the end. We are looking at another great season and hope everyone has an awesome time. |
|
The Summer '06 Season began on July 11th & 12th. |
|
3-MAN LEAGUE The 3-Man League has been a great success. The Tournaments were played at the 1007 & Bocci's Cellar. The team 'Blind Draw' works well, as does the format. Plan on seeing more of this version of our great pasttime as we will now be playing it EVERY off-season. The Point System works like this... Wins=2/Losses=1 for every game played during a Match (this includes EVERY 'Singles' game played). A team match win will earn the winning team 2 more points per player. We have added a 1 point bonus to any player who wins their 'Singles' match 2-0 and will use a 2-0 'Singles' match win as the tie-breaker whenever we have more than five players finishing the night with the highest point total. Allows for bigger pots, you know. The games we play are... Team Games (Everybody plays): Mouse (No-Call), 701, Boxes (Teams alternate until end of Game) & Cricket-5. 'Singles': Not-Shang-hai (10 turns/Begin with 40 pts. then throw one full turn at...20's,s19's, Trips.18's,17's,Dubs,16's,15's,Beds,finish with Bulls)(Remember to half your score {adding up} every turn you don't hit the objective target.) & 'Singles' 501, English Cricket IS the third game tie-breaker (Points Ceiling=500 pts. [In other words, once the first person on points reaches 500, players switch and the 'point monger' is now on Bulls.) The Format will consist of 'Four' Team games and 'Three' 'Singles' matches. 3-Man will continue forever, it's a blast, no pressure and you never know who you'll get teamed up with. So, c'mon you players from "A" or "B" League next time we run the 3-Man, join us in the fun. A $5.00 buy-in per player gets you in each week and the top point earners get half the cash, that night! We save the other half for the end of the Season and we will split it amongst the 5 top point earners like so...(30%,25%,20%,15%,10%) A League 'Sanction Fee' of 20% comes out at the beginning of every night. Anyone interested in knowing more about this upstart version, please contact: Abel at his e-mail address.. statistician@santacruzdarts.org, the stat guy's e-mail address on this site or any of your other wonderful League Board Members. |

The changing of the sponsor fees at $75.00 a team went well. This will help us to keep a steadier flow of monies into the League and allow us to keep up with cost-of-living increases and the tradition of great trophies, medals and plaques(another big order coming up). This also helps us maintain our basest level of dinero now that the League member's fees are back to $30.00 a season, as promised. We appreciate our sponsors, and you can see that every League night and hope they understand the neccessities of the SCCDA Board member's decision. |
|
An updated version of the Official Rules and Bylaws is up on this site. The Rules Committee and Board of Directors put in a great effort to streamline and commit these guidelines to work for the Association Members. Captains now have the final say, as if they didn't already, and we hope we have done the best job our fellow members can be proud of. We want to thank everyone who put their best efforts to help us see this through. |

PLAYING INELIGIBLE PLAYERS is probably the biggest mistake a team could make aside of forgetting to call in their stats. This next statement is gonna make me feel like a Republican. The League has ZERO TOLERANCE for anyone failing to pay the proper fees and notifying the right people about a new player!! C'mon people, this is a no brainer..if you add someone to your team, even for just one night, you have to pay to play. All you have to do is give the fees to the opposing Captain. It's not until "AFTER" the All-Star Break that you would need a 2/3 vote from your League's Captains to add someone. So, getting permission is not a factor. You can notify the board later about the roster change. Everyone must abide by this and it is only fair to your fellow leaguers. A team may not use one of their paid roster slots to fill in for the night. Any new member must be paid for. If there is a transfer or replacement of one of a teams 'roster slots', that must be taken care of with the board "PRIOR" to match play..NO EXCUSES!! Any ineligible player will cost the team games in forfeit. Sorry everyone, but those are the rules and we are going to be hard core on this one. There will be no matches/games exempt from this the rest of the season. Extenuating circumstances do occur...and will always be considered. |
|
On Forfeits and Rescheduling...
We have set aside two weeks for make-up games during the season. Any missed game prior to the All-Star break must be made up BEFORE the All-Star tournament for that League. There will be one week after play has been completed to make up any missed game in the second half of the respective seasons. Teams may make up a missed match at any time during each particular season block. Captains of the rescheduling teams have up to one week after the scheduled match to set a date for replaying. They must notify the board within that time frame otherwise the board will set a MANDATORY date for the replay of the match. Captains must also notify the Statistician no later than 8:00 PM on the night of the scheduled match that the match will be played at a later date. Captains may do this by calling the S.C.C.D.A.' statline at (831)427-5334. Easy. IF A TEAM HAS THREE PLAYERS, THEY MUST PLAY THE MATCH ON THE NIGHT SCHEDULED OR TAKE A FORFEIT!!! FORFEITS WILL NOT BE RESCHEDULED. CAPTAINS MUST NOTIFY THE OPPOSING CAPTAIN TWO HOURS PRIOR TO THE MATCH TO RESCHEDULE. Of course, there is always the kind and spirited good sportsmanship of the other Captain to agree to reschedule a match before 8:00 PM that night, if the games can't be played due to an act of God. |
