7. Banquet Ballot Issues.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. Rules Committee Update.
Articles 1-8 of the official rules and bylaws is almost complete.
The committee will present a copy to each board member individually to be read by each board member through its entirety.
Charlie requested the board set up a new position of league historian.
It was agreed, that the position would be redundant with other specified positions already in place.
A ballot issues was presented:
Allowing English cricket as an A-league singles option.
2. Banquet Bids.
Abel acknowledged the agreement from Charlie O’s to host the banquet at a cost of 1,100.00 as per the board approved letter sent to them.
Charlie O’s would remodel their facilities to accommodate the league.
A vote in favor to have the banquet at Charlie O’s stood at 4 ayes and 2 nays.
Roger Champieux argued that Charlie O's did not deserve the banquet and did not supply the board with a formal bid.
Charlie and Abel tried in vain to explain to the board that the banquet location was not chosen by bid, but by rotation.
The Commissioner then proclaimed the vote null and void when the board was unable to come to a consensus regarding who has priority over hosting the banquet. Britannia Arms (who submitted a bid but were not up in the rotation) or Charlie O’s.
Anja and Roger argued to not accept a verbal bid from Charlie O's and asked that Abel present a written bid.
Anja and Roger also argued to not accept the board vote giving Charlie O's the banquet.
A meeting was called for the following week to discuss the banquet location in greater length.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. B-League Play-offs.
There was a scheduling conflict with four teams scheduled to play at Bocci Cellar.
The Bocci's Bulls conferred with the Young Guns and agreed to move their scheduled match to the Poet and Patriot.
Rob Christensen voiced a concern regarding the singles stats.
He feels that the stats accrued during play-offs should not count toward overall player’s position in singles or that every team be allowed to play in the same amount of games.
The board voted to cut off singles standings at week fourteen but to include award winning highlights.
Vote: 5 ayes, 1 abstain.
2. Singles Championships Locations.
"B" League Singles Championships are scheduled for December 16th at the 1007.
"A" League Singles Championships are scheduled for December 17th at the Poet and Patriot.
3. Gardenia Cup.
The board, by unanimous decision, decided to hold off playing the Gardenia Cup until a season when there are enough competitors to make it worthwhile.
4. Resignation.
Anja has given her resignation as league Secretary/Treasurer.
Her appointment terminates at the banquet on January 10th.
Any League member active during the last season and expecting to be active this season, is encouraged to find someone to nominate you for the now open position.
You may submit your wish for nomination to any of the other board members prior to or at the banquet.
