| | Public Relations Rep | Roger Champieux |
| B League Rep | Sean Campbell |
| The following Officers were absent: |
| A League Rep | Smiley Rogers (unexcused) |
| Also in attendance:Angel Hopps, Anthony Vasquez, Monica Burr, Sam Schaefer |
Concerns and topics discussed by Board Members during this meeting:
1. Fundraising
2. Formal Complaint
3. A league Rep
4. Allstars
OLD BUSINESS:
1. Fundraising
Roger has been talking to Britannia Arms and Bocci’s Cellar who are both willing to donate dinners toward dart fundraisers, he has yet to talk to Chris Mathews of the Poet & Patriot but the idea is to have a fundraising tournament with a cash buy in and donated prizes. He has also contacted a dart company and is waiting to hear from them. We can either have two singles tournaments (one for A League and one for B) or we could have a blind draw doubles. The consensus was that one tournament with both A and B players would have a larger draw. We’ll probably have it the week after the singles championships, before the banquet.
T-Shirt sales will continue, bars are willing to advertise for us but are unwilling to be responsible for inventory and sales.
Web advertising is also a major possibility, Nici will write up a package to present to prospective advertisers, the board decided on $100 for 6 months (roughly one season) but she’ll contact Ken to see if we’re being realistic.
NEW BUSINESS:
2. Formal Complaint
There was a formal complaint lodged against Smiley Rogers by Sam Scheafer for his actions toward Monica Burr at the Privateers X and Pointers game on 8/11/04 at the Poet & Patriot. Sam and Monica were present at the board meeting to give an account of the incident. After much debate Charlie motioned we cite Smiley for violating Part 1, Article VI, Paragraph A, section 2 and dock the Privateers X one point (as laid out by that rule), Nici seconded, 6 ayes motion passed. Charlie also moved we suspend further consideration of the incident (possible violation of Part 1 Article VI, Paragraph A, section 3) until Smiley is present. This is a serious charge of sexually oriented harassment and needs to be dealt with in a formal manner with all due seriousness in the manner set out by the rules and bylaws.
Pertanant rules to be reviewed:
Part 1, Article VI, Paragraph A Personal Conduct
Part 2, Article IV Suspension or Termination of Membership
Part 2, Article VIII Captains Meetings
The board is also writing a warning letter to the two captains involved and an advisory letter to the general body of captains so that should a similar situation occur those involved will understand how the rules and bylaws deal with such things.
3. A League Rep
As a completely separate issue from the formal complaint the board needs to deal with the fact we have an A-League Rep who has missed all three meetings so far, has a job that will keep him out of town for at least the next 4 weeks, has no phone and no e-mail and does not seen willing or able to fulfill his duties. Sean moves to put Smiley on hiatus from the board due to absenteeism and inability to fulfill the requirements of the job, so that Keith may appoint an interim A League Rep to handle the job until such time as an all captains meeting can vote on the removal or reinstatement of Smiley. Abel seconds, 6 ayes motion passes.
Keith appointed Anthony Vasquez as the interim A League representative. Anthony’s e-mail is moshman43@yahoo.com, his phone number is 761-5970, contact him if you have any problems with A League.
There is an All-Captains meeting set for September 13th, at the Poet & Patriot at 7:00. Sean and Anthony will contact B and A League captains respectively and provide mail in ballots for those unable to attend. Abel will draft up a ballot.
4. All Stars
Don Wilson has volunteered to help out with All Stars again, he will run B-League and Roger will be there to help. Abel will run A-League and deliver pizza to B-League. He will also bring T-Shirts for all those interested.
Meeting adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
NEXT MEETING: Poet & Patriot on Monday, September 27, 2004 @ 7:00 p.m. All League members are welcome.
