|
A meeting of the Board of Directors of the Santa Cruz County Darts Association
(SCCDA) was held on the date and at the time set forth above.
| The following
Officers were present: |
| Commissioner | Keith Albertson | |
| | President | Charlie McClain |
| Treasurer/Secretary | Nichole Smith |
| Statistician | Abel Romero |
| Public Relations | Roger Champieux |
Concerns and topics discussed by Board Members during this meeting:
1. Financial Report
2. Banquet
3. New Season
OLD BUSINESS:
1. Financial Report
Nici handed out a financial summary of money spent last season, brief highlights were the fact that we spent more than we made by $278.79. We need to tighten the belt a little but since we’re no longer working on the rules our Kinko’s bill ought to drop drastically.
2. Banquet
Every one reported that the Banquet was well received. The only minor issues were that during the Blind Draw Doubles tournament we had one player drop out and apparently a fill in was not allowed so that forced his partner out too. Also there was issue raised over the inclusion of one of the league member’s son in the Blind Draw Doubles tournament, the problem being that he isn’t that experienced a player and thus his partner was for all practicality taken out of contention. They did win their first match. We as a dart league do not specifically require members to be 21 and over, rational says that most dart matches are played at 21 and over venues but nothing is to prevent a minor from playing in the league at the venues that will allow him entrance. The rules also currently state that "Amy ‘member’ or ‘guest’ of a Santa Cruz County Darts Association member may participate in the end-of-the-season awards banquet and tournament." (Part I, Article IX, Section J.) According to the rules kids can play, if anyone has an issue with this they should either 1) attend a board meeting and have the board address it or 2) contact a board member and request we consider amending the rules.
Abel also apologized for any feathers ruffled by his removal of Steve Lane from the premises. He did so as a function of his role at Charlie O’s, not as a Dart League Board Member. Charlie summed it up best, we’re guests at the establishment, we must abide by the establishments rules.
We were missing one trophy for Jeremy Koenig, so Brinks has to be contacted and the trophy made.
3. New Season
At the moment there is no known count of teams, we have the captains meeting tomorrow after which we will have a better concept of how many teams are in each league. Nici and Abel are assigned to captains Binders/Packets and the board agreed to do spiral binding on the rules to be posted in the bars, making it easier for people to search through them. We also need to present the rule changes at the Captains meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 8:02 p.m.
NEXT MEETING: Poet & Patriot July 19, 2004 @ 7:00
