Measures and Positions up for vote at the June 2007 Banquet

Ballot Measures: Measure 1: Creation of a Website Supervisor Board Position

Passed

Currently the SCCDA by-laws state that the Competition Secretary/Statistician for the dart league is in charge of maintaining the SCCDA website. The Statistician's job and the work of maintenance of the website have grown to such a point that it is no longer feasible for one person to maintain the website and do all the other things required. Therefore, it is proposed that a separate position of Website Supervisor be created. The Website Supervisor would be an elected member of the Board of Directors.

Measure 2: Non-playing board members

Passed

Currently, the SCCDA by-laws require that all members of the Board of Directors (with the exception of the Pub Representative) be playing members of the SCCDA. Sometimes circumstances are such that some Board members or persons interested in running for Board positions are unable to play regularly on a team, but are able to perform the duties of certain Board positions. To avoid the necessity of removing a non-playing Board member and to encourage more people to run for office, it is proposed that only the Commissioner, President, and League Representatives must be playing members of the SCCDA, and that other positions can be filled by a non-playing member if the majority of the Board approves. Question: Shall the by-laws be changed so that only the Commissioner, President, and League Representatives must be playing members of the SCCDA and that other Board members can be non-playing members if the majority of the Board approves?

Measure 3: English Cricket Rules

Passed

Currently, the SCCDA allows English Cricket as an option for the third game played in an A-League singles match. This game is currently played with a six bull goal and the requirement that the second player to shoot points beat the first players score, not just tie it. As such these playing conditions could result in an unfair or undefined scoring situation should the first person to shoot choose bulls and hit six on their first attempt. The second player has no possibility of winning, as even if they also shoot six bulls on their first attempt, they have not beated the first players score of zero. Since the required 6 bulls to close is arbitrary (ADO rulls require 10) and in order to promote the spirit of competition, it is proposed that we amend the rules to contain a description of English Cricket (singles) as requiring 7 bulls to close.
